Vysoke Tatry

The Vysoke Tatry mountains are situated in the northern part of Slovakia, on the border with Poland. In 1949 it was declared to be the first Slovak national park and in 1993 it was together with the polish part of the Tatras mountains declared by the UNESCO to be the "Biospheric reservation of the Tatras".The area is a well-known winter sports area, whose natural beauty makes it one of the most remarkable recreation areas not only in Slovakia but in all of Europe. Among other things, Vysoke Tatry offer exceptionally clean air and a unique climate, leaving every visitor feeling better, especially those who take advantage of the many health spa treatments available. Hiking paths, ranging from gentle to highly demanding, wind among spectacular peaks and rock walls. A complete spectrum of hotels and restaurants await guests whether they come looking for the beauty of the outdoors or for simple relaxation.

Belianska Jaskyna

Belianska Cave is the only cave open to public in the High Tatras..It is situated in the eastern part of the Belianske Tatras over the Tatranska Kotlina, in the National Nature Reserve Belianske Tatras, in the territory of the Tatra National Park.It was open to public in 1882. It was one of the first caves with electric lights in the worl.  It was created in the Middle Triassic limestones by corrosion and erosion waters from melting snow and ice or strong precipitation.The internal area was enlarged through excursions that followed. The final length of the cave is 1752 m, from which 1001 m are open to public. Sinter waterfalls, pagoda-shaped stalagmites and numerous little lakes are the attractions of this cave.The cave is also used for climatic therapy. The space with excellent acoustics, called the Music Hall is the venue of concerts of reproduced music every year in august.

Levoca

The town Levoca  situated in the east of Slovakia below the mountain range Levočské vrchy is one of the most visited by tourist in the country.  With a number of its historical monuments, is one of the most important towns in Slovakia.The original town walls from 14th and 15th century still remained preserved around the town center. The focus of the old Levoča is the large Námestie Majstra Pavla (The square of Maestro Pavol). In its centre the Roman-Catholic St.James church stands. It is one of the most important sacral buildings in Slovakia. High above the town towers the Mariánska hora Mt. (781 m). Every year at the beginning of July Levoča becomes the meeting point of the largest pilgrimage in Slovakia.The original pilgrim chapel was rebuilt into a small Gothic church in 1470. The interior of the new church contains the wonderful statue of the Virgin Mary which is now the symbol of the pilgrimage to Levoča.

Stara Lubovna

The town of Stara Lubovna, the centre of the Northern Spiš region, lies in the River Poprad basin in northern Slovakia. It is a town of interesting history and charming natural setting. The distinct countryside provides for recreation, hiking and curative stays.Town’s historical square is surrounded by burgess houses priceless from architectural point of view. The center of the town is occupied by the St Nicolas Roman Catholic church dating back to 1280, concealing a well-preserved Baroque interior. On a limestone cliff of 711 m over the city  stands Ľubovňa Castle. Rulers met here in the past, it is the place where Polish coronation jewels were hidden. An independent museum exhibition is presented by an open air museum in the area at the foot of the castle hill. It consists of a set of folk buildings that form a picturesque settlement around the Castle.

Vysne Ruzbachy

The Spiš Spa of Vyšné Ružbachy, which is situated  on the boundary between two national parks – the High Tatras National Park and the Pieniny National Park, has become well-known mainly thanks to its mineral waters. The therapeutic effects of the earthy carbonate mineral water springs were also well known in the Middle Ages when the first spa was founded here. Its area was inhabited already in paleolit, which was proved by the findings in travertine mines. Neurotic and mental illnesses are healed most often in the spa. Ružbachy are popular as a place for vacation, too. You can find there the biggest travertine lake in Slovakia-Kráter (Crater), 20 m in diameter. In the village there is a baroque Roman-Catholic church from the second half of the 17th century with baroque interior, and a Biely dom (White House), which was built on travertine rocks.

Pieniny

The National Park of Pieniny is the smallest of the Slovak National Parks, but as far as its beauty concerns, it is in no way less beautiful. It is the second oldest Park in Slovakia. It stretches on the border with Poland; the river Dunajec passes through it.  They are characteristic with a very complicated geologic structure which was an important factor by the creation of an interesting relief of rocky walls, towers and thrust-outliers of various shape which together with Dunajec Canyon create extensive landscape dominants. Rafting using wooden rafts is one of the greatest tourist attractions of northern Slovakia. One of the unforgettable experiences is certainly rafting down the river Dunajec in the splendid natural scenery of the Pieniny.The best known route is from the village Červený Kláštor. The end of route is near the chalet Pieniny where one can listen to goral music and taste goral specialities.

Presov

Šariš is situated in the northern part of eastern Slovakia. In the west and north-west it borders on the region of Spis, in the west it stretches as far as the northern parts of region of Zemplin. Presov is most important  town in Saris county  with an interesting past and dynamic present and mixed Slovak, Polish, Ukrainian and Ruthenian population. Monuments of Prešov are concentrated into its historical core stretching around Hlavná ulica street, which widens into the spindle-shaped square. Its dominant is the parish church of St. Nicholas from the mid-14th century with a tall tower reconstructed in the Gothic style.The most valuable structure of the square is the Greek-Catholic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist from the 18th century, which forms a common structure with the Bishop Palace and the Greek-Catholic Theological Faculty.

 

Kosice

Kosice , the second largest city of Slovakia, is a regional administrative center and Eastern Slovakia's hub of industry, commerce, science and culture. The city's historic sights  are concentrated in the historic center, which is an Urban Heritage Area. The reconstructed main street, lined by burgher houses and palaces, offers visitors a pleasant stroll and is also the venue for major events in the life of the city. Main square of Košice is the heart of the town and rightly considered one of the most beautiful squares in Slovakia. It is closed to traffic and skirted by numerous wonderful historical buildings. The most valuable monuments are situated in its center. The dominant of the square and the town is the monumental Gothic Cathedral of St. Elisabeth. This building is the largest church of Slovakia and the easternmost situated Gothic cathedral of western type in Europe.
